Michael Anderson, 49, admitted using threatening words or behaviour but claimed he only swore when an officer arrested him for trying to retrieve a mobile phone.
Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard Anderson, of Somerset Court, Burnham Avenue, Llanrumney, Cardiff, was clutching a can of lager and trying to get back one of his three mobile phones from the mother of his 22-year-old daughter when police arrived. The court was told the officer 'took hold of his (Anderson's) arm which was in plaster and he began to swear in direct response to the pain.'
Anderson, who appeared before District Judge Gerwyn Watkins wearing a football shirt, has numerous health problems and takes 14 tablets a day, some because of alcohol abuse. District Judge Watkins was told Anderson had turned back to alcohol when he broke his ankle. He was fined pounds 25 and ordered to pay a pounds 15 surcharge.
