The following people were dealt with at Cardiff Magistrates' Court: Christopher Dean Heffernan, 23, of High Street, Barry, was fined pounds 150 with pounds 35 court costs and banned from driving for two months after he was convicted in his absence of driving without a licence and without insurance.

Martin Hill, 21, of Penhaved Street, Grangetown, Cardiff, was fined pounds 150 and banned from driving for two months after pleading guilty to driving without a valid licence and using a car without insurance or an MoT.

Christopher Ayland, 20, of Lisvane Street, Cathays, Cardiff, was given a 12-month community order and told to pay pounds 50 court costs after pleading guilty to stealing a 24-CD box set from HMV.

Neil David Savoury, 34, of Whitchurch Road, Gabalfa, Cardiff, was given a 12-month community order and told to pay pounds 60 court costs after pleading guilty to possessing buprenorphine, a class C drug, heroin, nitrazepam and diazepam.

Ben Donnelly, 23, of Tewkesbury Street, Cathays, Cardiff, was fined a total of pounds 150 with pounds 55 court costs and a pounds 15 victims' surcharge, after pleading guilty to a public order offence and failing to surrender to bail.

Rhys James Christopher Saunders, 20, of Birchgrove Road, Birchgrove, Cardiff, was jailed for a total of two months after pleading guilty to criminal damage to a window and a car and resisting arrest, while still serving a licence period for a previous offence.

Michael Christopher Gallivan, 36, of Treborth Road, Rumney, Cardiff, was fined pounds 100 with pounds 75 court costs and had five penalty points added to his driving licence after he was convicted of failing to give the details of the driver of his car involved in an accident, failing to report a car accident and driving without due care and attention.

Troy Cameron, 22, of South Morgan Place, Riverside, Cardiff, admitted failing to comply with a community order for offences of theft and had 25 hours of unpaid work added to the community order. He is now required to complete a total of 125 hours of unpaid work. He also admitted failing to surrender to bail, but was given no separate penalty.

David Jenkins, 21, of Nevin Crescent, Rumney, Cardiff, admitted driving without insurance, driving a vehicle that exceeded the permitted weight and driving without a licence, was disqualified for six months, fined a total of pounds 350 and ordered to pay costs of pounds 160.

Arwel Roberts, 25, of Mill Road, Ely, Cardiff, pleaded guilty to common assault and was fined pounds 100 and ordered to pay pounds 250 compensation to victim Neil Llewellyn and pounds 50 court costs.

Adrian Golten, 50, of Heol Lewis, Cardiff, was convicted of drink- driving and banned from driving for four years, fined pounds 350 and ordered to pay pounds 250 costs.: Teen went for ride in stolen car:A teenager pleaded guilty to allowing himself to be driven in a stolen car. Gary O'Brien, 18, of Greenmeadows, Rumney, Cardiff, was in a red Ford Fiesta when it crashed into a car in the Fairwater area of the city in October last year.

Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard O'Brien was in the front passenger seat of the car driven by Christopher Walsh, 21, of Valley View, Trowbridge, Cardiff.

O'Brien was serving a sentence for a distraction burglary and stealing a car, the court was told.

Paul Malekin, defending O'Brien, said his client was knocked unconscious in the smash and was drunk, so could not remember much.

O'Brien pleaded guilty to allowing himself to be carried in a stolen car and using a car without insurance and was locked up for four months to be served concurrently and disqualified from driving for two years. Walsh will be sentenced on July 16.
