Aug 9, 2007The following people were dealt with at Cardiff Magistrates Court: Kerry Louise Hobbs, 19, of Browning Close, Llanrumney, Cardiff, was fined pounds 75 with pounds 50 court costs after pleading guilty to causing criminal damage to a car. Sophie Ann Holloway, 21, of Newent Road, St Mellons, Cardiff, was fined pounds 75 with pounds 60 court costs and told to pay pounds 50 compensation to her victim, after pleading guilty to assault. Natalie Jay Palfrey, 19, of Hendre Road, Rumney, Cardiff, was given a 12- month conditional discharge and told to pay pounds 75 compensation to her victim and pounds 50 court costs, after pleading guilty to assault. Jonathan Richard Morgan Davies, 21, of Gorwel Road, Ogmore Vale, Bridgend, was jailed for 14 days and banned from driving for a year after pleading guilty to failing to stop and give his details after a car accident, two counts of using a car without insurance, two counts of driving without the correct licence, driving without due care and attention and failing to surrender to bail.
Peter David Sullivan, 54, of Llewellyn Avenue, Ely, Cardiff, was fined pounds 120 with pounds 15 victims surcharge and banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.
Tyrone Lawrence, 26, of Blaise Place, Grangetown, Cardiff, was ordered to carry out 40 additional hours of unpaid work after he admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a suspended sentence, given for two counts of driving while disqualified.
Elaine Elizabeth Pugh, 38, of Drawlings Close, St Mellons, Cardiff, served one day in custody in lieu of a pounds 50 fine after pleading guilty to using threatening words or behaviour.
Ian Evans, 38, of Abergele Road, Trowbridge, Cardiff, was fined pounds 75 with pounds 50 court costs and pounds 15 victims surcharge and given three points on his driving licence after he was convicted in his absence of using his mobile phone while driving.
Katrina Diane Rice, 38, of Llanstephan Road, Rumney, Cardiff, was fined pounds 50 with pounds 50 court costs and banned from driving for a month after pleading guilty to using a car without insurance.
Luke Murphy, 43, of Muirton Road, Tremorfa, Cardiff, was fined pounds 200 with pounds 15 victims surcharge and banned from driving for six months after pleading guilty to using a car without a valid licence, insurance or an MoT. Cem Oram, 34, of Nevin Crescent, Rumney, Cardiff, was fined pounds 60 with pounds 15 victims surcharge and had three penalty points put on his licence after pleading guilty to using a mobile phone while driving. Kelly Marie Stuart, 26, of Ball Road, Llanrumney, Cardiff, was fined pounds 250 and had six penalty points added to her driving licence after pleading guilty to using a car without insurance. Russell Karuta Davies, 41, of Plymouthwood Crescent, Ely, Cardiff, was fined pounds 100 with pounds 55 court costs and pounds 15 victims surcharge after pleading guilty to using threatening words or behaviour.
Brian William Lee McCan, 23, of Clare Road, Riverside, Cardiff, was given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, after pleading guilty to possessing a kitchen knife in public.
Margaret Mary OBrien, 33, of Craigmuir Road, Tremorfa, Cardiff, was given a 12-month community order after pleading guilty to stealing pounds 670 of goods from Asda. Stefan Terry Price, 23, of Ty Coch, Rhymney, Tredegar, was given a 12-month community order with an unpaid work requirement of 100 hours after pleading guilty to possessing a baseball bat, an offensive weapon, in public.: Teen took Micra and crashed into cars:A teenager caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when he crashed into three parked cars. Caerphilly magistrates heard Matthew Williams, 18, took his mum's Nissan Micra car without her permission and drove it for 40 minutes in the early hours of July 28.
He passed a police car going in the opposite direction and while looking in his rear-view mirror ploughed into the cars in Park Place, Bargoed. The owner of one of the cars heard the crash and found Williams at the scene.
Williams said he would pay for the damage but then panicked and tried to escape. After the owner stopped him he called police, who found Williams was over the drink-drive limit. Williams pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. Tests showed he had 66 micrograms of alcohol to 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35. He also admitted charges of aggravated take and drive, driving without insurance and third party insurance. Williams could not give any reason why he took the car. Williams, of Darren Las, Merthyr Vale, was given an 18- month community order which included a drink-drive rehabilitation course. He was also ordered to pay pounds 150 compensation to each of the car owners and pounds 43 costs.
