Oct 9, 2007THE new hybrid-powered flagship of the Lexus luxury brand, the pounds 81,400 LS 600h, is now on sale in Britain. Despite the hefty price, demand is high, so if you order one now don't expect to see it before next spring. The LS 600h features the world'sfirst full- time, all-wheel drive full hybrid V8 powertrain, using a 5.0-litre petrol engine together with a powerful, high-output electric motor. Performance figures are zero to 62mph in 6.3 seconds, top speed 155mph and a thirst of 30.4mpg in combinedcycle driving.
MAZDA'SRX-8 four-seater, four-door sports coupe is now available with zero per cent finance and a new optional Sport Pack. The Pack is priced at pounds 350, saving buyers pounds 1400 if they'd specified the lowered sports suspension, 10-spoke 18-inchalloys, body-coloured side skirts and body-side graphics separately. The offer runs until the end of December on all RX-8 models.
SPEED is the clear deciding factor between men and women when it comes to the type of accidents UK drivers have. Car insurer elephant.co.uk say research of their own data revealed men drive faster and more aggressively than women, while women are moreeasily distracted behind the wheel. Men are 42 per cent more likely than women to be involved in a head-on collision, while women are 55 per cent more likely than men to have an accident in a car park.
FORD'S new Mondeo has been named Towcar of the Year by the Caravan Club. The Mondeo Titanium X Estate won the pounds 25,000- pounds 32,000 class and went on to win the overall Towcar honour.
