In 2001, there were 221,000 ordinary life insurance policies in force in Wyoming with a total value of $15.5 billion; total value for all categories of life insurance (ordinary, group, industrial, and credit) was $23.0 billion. Death benefits paid that year totaled $79.1 million. As of 2000, there were two property and casualty and no life and health insurance companies incorporated or organized in the state. In 2001, property and casualty insurers wrote over $559 million in premiums. That year, there were 1,887 flood insurance policies in force in the state, with a total value of $244,671.
